Thoughts after a couple of weeks...
So, I've been at this for a couple of weeks now.
I have no idea what my starting weight was. I have no idea what it is now. Lower I hope. I feel like it's lower. I should probably buy a scale one of these days.
Anyhow. I've been walking a lot. 2 times approx .7 or .8 miles depending on what I do to do the mapping on the weekdays, and 1 mile once a day on the weekends. I feel like I got past a bit of a wall in the last couple of days. My legs used to burn pretty good after that short of a walk, now I feel like I could keep going. In another week or so, I plan to add another 1 mile trip every day. I've also been doing some light weight training with dumbells in the evening. Last night I decided to add some crunches in, and thought I was going to die, but I'm going to stick with it.
On the food front I've been doing everything I can to eat better. I don't keep ice cream around any more. I haven't eaten any fast food or drank any soda in almost a month. I'm making a conscious effort to fill my plate more so with vegetables and un-refined starches than with meats and cheeses. I still have pizza once a week, and that's not gonna change, damnit.
The overall result is that I feel 100 times better. I'm probably going to need to buy a new belt in the next couple of weeks, or start making new holes in the existing one.
I'm still very perplex about what to do about the coming winter. We've got maybe 2 months during which walking outside is a truly viable option. Treadmills or exercise bikes that are made to support a person of my weight are expensive enough that I'm not interested in buying one. Am I the only person who finds this ironic? I could go to a gym, but the thought of going to a gym with all the sickeningly fit people simply turns my stomach. Any ideas from the crowd?
On another front, look for more ideas on food prep in the coming weeks. We're currently in a transitional period between summer and fall produce. I've got a few ideas to test out once quality ingredients come available, and at some point I'm going to undertake a couple of experiments to see if I can't combat the dreaded STEVE.

That's all for now, Healthy Food fans. Stay tuned.
