Saturday the 12th..
Jason, Angus and I had been talking about the Seneca Falls inaugural "It's a Wonderful Run" for a while and running or walking in it... http://itsawonderfulrun5k.com/ and today is the day that I am going over there and participating...
I'm a bit nervous, as this is my first ever race that I am going to try to run. I'm sure that I will have to walk a part of the course, but am excited at the same time to actually go out and do a race and get one under my belt.
I used to run in high school as a recreational runner and that kind of went by the wayside when I started college and working full-time. Joining the AOP group has become a helpful motivation to get me back on track and running again. My ultimate goal is biking the 10 mile short course in Auburn's Great Race in August 2010. I'd also like to get a fairly good time doing so.
Just a couple of notes in here as far as my training goes, the last time I ran was the Monday before Thanksgiving, and that was only about 3/4 of a mile. Since then, nada, nothing... so today should be interesting. I know that I can do at least a part of this and I also want to be there running to get the word out that we are here and hopefully can offer some inspiration to others. My motto through this is the advice Yoda gave young Skywalker in Episode 5, "No. Try Not. Do or Do Not. There is no try."
So, in a few hours I will be running, jogging, and maybe walking a bit in Seneca Falls, NY. And, I am going to be wearing the AOP logo in the race to help us get the word out!
- And as for Friday the 13th, my wife thinks this means the movie reference, I'm not sure that applies here as it was just a reference to the date regarding fears and not the movie.
