Light Pasta Salad
I made this for the first AOP meeting at Emerson Park. Below are the exact ingredients I used. thebean makes the excellent suggestion of Whole Wheat Pasta. Of course you can add whatever veggies you like. Enjoy!
Grilled Chicken w/ Roasted Peppers on Ciabatta
Firstly, this is Ciabatta bread, if you don't know. Its right up front in wegmans, behind the 7 items or less checkout lines. Go wegmans.
I can add some pictures the next time I make this, which will probably be this weekend since I love making one of these Saturday for dinner then eating the leftovers all day Sunday. This seriously will feed a family, make multiple meals for less.
First Post
For a fat guy I know a lot about nutrition. My problem has always been not particularly what I eat, but that I don't particularly like to exercise, and I like to eat. That and frequent relapses into McDonalds addictions...but I digress. Here's a fun article from Micheal Pollan, a food writer who has written some very good books, including In Defense of Food, which is really the bible of what should be an effort to do w

This is all about changes, right? The things we have to do to meet our goals. I've made some changes this week, and so far they're sticking. So far.
This group endeavour, the website, has given me a real sense of energy for making these changes. The beauty part is, I already feel a sense of accomplishment, and the changes I've made seem actually pretty small.
The Meeting at Emerson
Well, I took a look at the weather, and it doesn't look promising for tomorrow. I'm going to suggest we cancel the meeting for tomorrow and look at doing it one night next week. What are everyone's thoughts on this?
FORECAST HAS CHANGED, LET'S GIVE IT A SHOT. SHOULDN'T SHOWER UNTIL LATER ON.
Trying to look at the upside of things today.
There are days when you wake up and the world just seems gray. Today is one of those days. Work is crazy, kids are crazy, I have million things to do today and it seems like they are never going to get done. And what makes it so much more frustrating is that I have no time to do the things that I need to do for me. I want to excercise but is seems like there is never anytime. How can you eat healthy when you spend 40% of your time in the car? These are the things that I am trying to work out.
Fat, Drunk and Stupid is No Way to go Through Life
Well, week one has been an almost complete washout. I've found every possible excuse I could use to avoid doing any exercise. I have eaten every single thing that has crossed my path (which peaked last night...I'm not sure, I could have blacked out, but I think I ate a piece of our couch). Using the soul-crushing heat and humidity to justify my lack of will, I have actually gained this week, rocketing up to 365 pounds as of this morning.
Wow. An auspicious debut, right? Go Team!
Let's Roll!!!
I decided to join up on this team as I am currently losing weight quite successfully - yet I am still about 2 stones ( 25 pounds) overweight. I know that this is not only important to lose the weight - but also it will be a focus for me to help me keep the weight off once I hit my target goal weight.
