Anticipation is a Dirty Word

For those of you that may be following my trip through this foggy swamp of weight loss and nutrition, you already know all about the Couch to 5k program.  I've written about it quite a bit.  From the excitement at first starting it and calling myself a 'runner' to my october-november illness, you've shared my highs and lows with the program.

It was a Wonderful Run...

So... I managed to survive and even finished a race!

The Seneca Falls It's A Wonderful Run was my first 5K ever and a few things that I learned along the way...

1- It was cold.  Do not wear shorts, it is not recommended when running.  Just looking at the amount of runners that were in shorts running was scary.

Random musings about basketball, illnesses and goals

I feel good.

Finally.  I feel good.  I hope.  No, hope is the wrong choice here.  I pray.  Pray that I am over the illness that wiped out the end of October and most of November for me.  I have a renewed sense of purpose for this little project.

Now, I am being honest to myself as well.  The Seneca Falls Run is less than 2 weeks off.  I don't have time to train and be ready for it, realistically.  So I'm looking for another 5k in the New Year's time frame.

Fillmore Glen, and Our Hike in a Few Pictures.

Amy, Conrad, Seth and I met Steph and Drew at Fillmore Glen last weekend for a little hike and some enjoyment of the outdoors.  It was just the 6 of us, a mini-AoP outing disguised as a walk in the woods.

Slap in the face and a way I go...

I am a stress eater.  I live by the motto, “When life has you down, have a cookie”.  I came to this realization when my life started getting the best of me and so did the cookies.  Since July my work life has been stressful to say the least and unfulfilling.  I have felt defeated and demoralized by multiple contributing factors.    Feeling under appreciated can be one of the most demoralizing feelings that a person can endure.

AoP Guru Shane Countryman, Round 2

I cornered our good friend Shane for another interview, picking up where the last one left off.  My questions are in bold, his responses in regular text.  I hope you find this helpful.  I'd also like to thank Shane again for his time.

AoP Mini-Outing -- Filmore Glen Hike

A bunch of us are meeting at Filmore Glen on Saturday the 7th of November for a little hiking.  Anyone who'd like to join us, just head there by 2pm and look for us!  The more the merrier.

Curry: It's not a recipie, it's a platform...

First off, we should start with a discussion of what "Curry" technically is.  I'm not going to reinvent the wheel here, so I'll just post a link:

http://www.cookingforengineers.com/article/184/Curry

Now that we have that out of the way, we can being with my personal "curry platform".  By using a different curry paste, or a different protein, or whatever, you can turn a basic idea into any number of quick easy meals.
